El Surf Club
El Surf Club is Punta Mita’s newest beach club, located inside of the gated community, 20 min away from Casa Koko by golf cart.
This beach club is exclusive for Punta Mita’s guests, which means, you will never have to worry about overcrowded beaches or fighting to find a spot in the waves, while you are trying to surf. The spot is ideal for those with some gained skills, who can surf by themselves.
La Lancha
Great for longboard surfing and surf lessons for beginners. Only reachable by boat. This is one of the options we offer to guests who wish to take surf lessons while staying at Casa Koko. Keep reading below to discover more about this activity.
El Anclote
Tends to offer longer and smoother rides, so it’s also a great choice for beginners, however it tends to be more populated with locals.
The Beach Break
Located near Los Veneros, will put your surfing skills to the test with barrel waves and a sandy bottom that will keep you safer while surfing the tube.
Los Veneros
A popular classic reef break where short- and longboard surfers do well. Fast beach break, with lefts and rights. Some experience is required due to its fast rides.
Punta Burros
This destination is easily accessible and great for surfers of all abilities – especially at high tide. It’s a very popular reef break among locals, so it can get crowded easily.
Swimming Pools
You’ll have to paddle out to the break known as "Swimming Pools" to get the best of the waves, but then you’ll enjoy a wonderful day of longboarding. This surf break is located just north of Los Veneros.
Bahia Break
This reef break is the jewel on the crown among all surf breaks around Punta Mita, and it happens to be right in front of Casa Koko. The spot is very exposed so it works in any swell direction and all tides, however the best waves are usually in the mornings. It is only recommended for expert surfers (good for short boards).

To ensure no linguistic barriers or misdirection get in your way, our Certified Surf Instructors are bilingual and experienced with beginners of all ages. We offer two great locations for those who want to learn or improve their skills: St. Regis’ beach club or La Lancha beach.
Taking surf lessons at St. Regis’ Sea Breeze beach club
Located at only 10 minutes by golf cart from Casa Koko, this is the ideal location for small groups or those who want a short activity (1 hour), in the comfort of the St. Regis resort.
Our experienced instructor will teach you the fundamentals of surfing on the shoreline before heading into the deeper water where the thrill of riding your first wave begins.
Learning how to surf at La Lancha beach
This 3.5-hour activity, exclusive for groups of 5+ people, departs from Punta Mita’s pier on a tender boat locally known as a “panga”, to the nearby virgin beach of La Lancha, 15 minutes away, where the adventure begins.
After jumping off the boat into the water, you’ll reach the shore on your surfboard, where the lesson will begin. This adventure is the most exciting way of learning the art of surfing while exploring a virgin beach!
